The Ombudsman facilitates communication when conflict arises among students, faculty, administrators, and service offices. He or she listens to the concerns, complaints, and grievances, conducts investigations when appropriate, and helps to identify and evaluate options for resolution. The Ombudsman is expected to be impartial, functioning as a neutral facilitator or mediator rather than as an advocate of any party. He or she operates independently of administrative authorities. The Ombudsman maintains confidentiality of records, contacts, and communication. You can contact the Ombudsman:

  • to know your rights;
  • when all the other options have failed;
  • when a problem is recurrent or unsolved;
  • when you believe you are a victim of discriminatory practices;
  • when someone's behavior interfers your studies.

Note that the Ombudsman has no right of inspection of external university conflicts or problems. The Ombudsman will consider only the complaints emanating from and implying students, administrators and service offices related to the Quantitative Economics Master (QEM) and  Mathematical Models in Economics and Finance (MMEF)  Courses. Any request submitted to the Ombudsman should be comprised of the following:

  • personal information of the complainant such as name, capacity, address, and telephone number;
  • a short statement of the matter at issue and the relevant documentation (such as correspondence);
  • a report of the steps, and the people with whom the complainant was exchanged, in order to solve her/his problem;
  • the expectations and remedies sought to settle the matter.
